Séminaire de Sylvain Nascimbene
Vendredi 21 octobre 2011, 9h15, salle de réunion du siège de l’IFRAF, au 4e étage du bâtiment Rataud à l’ENS au 45 rue d’Ulm.
Abstract :
In this talk I will describe a recent experiment performed in the group of I. Bloch in Munich, which consists in a direct experimental evidence of a valence bond quantum resonance with ultracold bosonic atoms in an optical lattice. By means of a superlattice structure we create a two-dimensional array of independent 4-site plaquettes, which we can fully control and manipulate in parallel. A quantum resonance between vertical and horizontal valence bonds states of the plaquette is time resolved. Furthermore, we show how RVB states with s- and d-wave symmetry can be created, which constitute minimum basis states of a topologically protected quit.
