Long range interactions and many body effects with Rydberg atoms.

Abstract
In recent years, there have been in renewed interest in Rydberg atoms, especially at ultralow temperatures. Ultracold samples of Rydberg atoms have applications in many fields, from ultracold plasmas, to exotic molecule formation, to quantum information processing. In this presentation, we will review basic properties of Rydberg atoms, and their very strong long range interactions. We will show how those interactions lead to molecular curves that can sustain bound levels. Finally, we will investigate how those long range interactins can also be exploited for many body physics and used for quantum information purposes.
